City wide rummage sale this weekend

This year’s City-Wide Rummage Sale will be Thursday, April 1 thru Saturday April 3 from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. each day sponsored by the Marion County Chamber of Commerce. 

This is a free event and open to local residents and business. 

VFW resumes Saturday Fish Fry

The Marion County VFW will resume their 1st Saturday of the Month Fish Fry this week.

Plates will be served from 11a-2p with Fish, Hush Puppies, Slaw and Pickles, for a suggested $10 donation per plate. Dessert is extra.

Courthouse Offices Move Next Week

All offices located in the Marion County Courthouse will be closed next week, April 5-9, 2021, so they can move back into the Historical Courthouse building.

The offices will reopen at 102 West Austin Street, on Monday, April 12, 2021.

Mosquito Spraying To Begin ASAP

The City of Jefferson will resume spraying for mosquitos in the next few days, according to Mayor Rob Baker. The City had to change vendors at the last minute due to the  previous vendor no longer wanting to spray during the City’s required hours for treatment. Spraying generally occurs between 7-10 p.m.

Easter Egg Express Rides, Hunt on Saturday

Come ride the Easter Egg Express, an antique narrow gauge gas-powered train, along the scenic Big Cypress Bayou on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at 12:30p and 2:30p

The Historic Jefferson Railway will also offer a FREE Easter Egg Hunt for ticket holders under 12, after each train returns.

The train ride includes a stop at the Diamond Don Gator Pit for feeding of the live alligators out basking in the sun for that great photo op.
