Jefferson’s City Drug was the target of an early Friday morning burglary, but Jefferson Police were quickly called and apprehended the suspect.
According to a press release from JPD Chief Tino Perez, a 911 call at approximately 3a.m. Friday dispatched city police and Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies to City Drug, 109 W. Lafayette to check on a reported burglary in progress.
“Upon arrival, officers discovered a vehicle leaving the area and issued an investigatory traffic stop,” according to the press release. The suspect “proceeded to flee from the officer on foot” and was apprehended shortly and taken into custody.
The suspect was later identified as Jules David Seals, 40, of Houston. He was booked into the Marion County Jail on the following charges:
- Burglary of a Building with Controlled Substance Present, Felony 3
- Unlawful use of Criminal Instrument, State Jail Felony
- Possession of Dangerous Drug, Misdemeanor A
- Evading Arrest or Detention with Previous Conviction, Felony 3
- Possession of Marijuana <2 oz, Misdemeanor B
The bond for all charges was set at $92, 515.
According to the press release, police were notified via neighbors who heard and observed the burglary taking place. They were able to provide dispatcher with the information needed to quickly make the arrest.
Police indicated Seals did not act alone and was spooked when the alarm went off. They also believe the individuals are not local citizens.
