Zoulene Joy Allison

September 14, 1925-August 25, 2021

Zoulene Joy Allison went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. She was born September 14, 1925 in Jefferson,  Texas to the late A. M. and Minnie Lou Sewell. 

After graduating from Jefferson High School in Texas, she married Warren Allison and both worked in the steel mill in Pennsylvania during WWII. They started farming in 1948 in Delaware and in 1953 began and operated  Whispering Pines Trailer Park. Upon retiring in the early 1960s, she continued her love of flowers, of which she sold many to local residents through Spence’s Bazaar. 

She was involved with her church, Maranatha Baptist Church in Camden, Delaware. She was treasurer and played the organ for many years. She transplanted many of her own flowers to the church grounds. She was involved with the ladies missionary group and supported many of the church missionaries. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren C. Allison; one brother Tunis, and her sisters Vena Mae Brantley, (Lt Col, (ret.) Hattie Rilla Brantley, Cora Fay Fields and Dorothy Cloud. 

Joy is survived by her brother Lt Col (ret.) Stanford S. Brantley, and his three sons; and daughter Trudy Kauffman; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive visitors at Pippins Funeral Home, Camden, De on Monday, August 30, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. with services beginning at 12 p.m.
