Glenn Edward Powell

July 6, 1944 – September 18, 2021

Graveside services for Mr. Glenn Edward Powell, 77, of West Columbia, Texas will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at Ebenezer Cemetery in Pittsburg, Texas, under the direction of Haggard Funeral Home of Jefferson.

A time of visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. until funeral services begin at Ebenezer Cemetery.

Glenn Edward Powell was born on July 6, 1944 in Pittsburg, Texas to Jack Edward Powell and Evelyn Richardson Powell and passed away on September 12, 2021 in West Columbia, Texas.

Glenn joined the Navy in 1963 and was honorably discharged in 1967.  After service in the Navy he was employed by Ray Geophysical in Houston working seismograph equipment in United States and Saudi Arabia until 1969.  

In 1970 he started work at Dow Badische, which later became Badische and finally BASF.  He retired in 2002 after 32 years of service.  

He enjoyed retirement to the fullest, he was an avid golfer until he bought his 1st Harley Davidson motorcycle in 2002.  

His greatest enjoyment for several years was riding with his fellow Harley Davidson club members, where he made many friends on all the road trips they took.  

The last 10 years he has been maintenance superintendent at Greenwood Gun Club in Brazoria Texas.  

Glenn always said his Monday “Work Crew” was the best. They always worked hard for him and with him.  Glenn was deeply loved by his family and will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Evelyn Richardson Powell; A very special Granny, Lennis Hood Richardson; One infant brother, Ronnie Powell; Son, Edward Roy (Eddie) Powell; An infant daughter, Shelia Lynn Powell; Mother and Father in law, Jack and Ruby Moody.Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years, Shelia Powell who were married on October 20, 1970; two sons, Jeff White of Berryville Va. And Brian Powell of West Columbia Texas; Daughter, Michelle Powell of West Columbia Texas; four grandchildren, Paige White and David Stulberg of Angleton Texas, Kaley White of Angleton Texas, Roark White of Berryville VA, Meron White of Berryville VA; One great granddaughter, Olivia White of Angleton Texas; sister, Sue Best and John of Jefferson Texas; Brothers and sisters-in-law; Jackie Powell and Lera of Porter Texas; Joe Powell and Karen of Pittsburg Texas as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers the Powell family has asked that donations be made to either The Greenwood Gun Club Youth Program at P.O. Box 1441, Lake Jackson, Texas 77566 or to a charity of your choice.
