Spring looks busy

The City Map Project (a joint effort on behalf of Tourism and the Chamber) is moving right along having held several working committee meetings gathering data for existing businesses (categories) and getting things ready for printing proposals.  Included in this project are cost estimates for downtown signage color coded locations (ki-osks).  The project is moving forward.  This committee is headed up by Tracey Engel, Colleen Taylor & Paul Moore.

The Chamber will be working with the Citizens Committee and Tourism in organizing and scheduling work on downtown trash cans (painting winter green) and researching cost factors for new trash can locations.

Another project underway, again, working with Tourism and the Citizens Committee in re-investing in downtown with hanging floral baskets on utility poles in the three block area of downtown.  Research and getting this organized is underway.  Will keep you posted.

The Ambassador’s Club is up and ready to work the streets downtown on busy weekends.  For Mardi Gras, we will have three golf carts and six volunteers (working in two hour shifts) working the two main red light intersections.  If any of our senior citizens wish to help out on these Ambassador work days, please give the Chamber a call (903-665-2672) and let us know.

The Wedding Expo is set for March 12th.  Anyone wishing to promote their goods relating to weddings, please contact the Chamber for info on booths and participation.  901-665-2672.

It’s that time of the year folks……City Wide Rummage Sale – April 1 & 2.  Now is the time to start clearing out for your participation this year.  We will be announcing locations where homeowners or businesses can set up a booth in the downtown area.

Bags & Bingo is set for March 17th.  Plan ahead of time to participate with your group of friends from Church, Lions, Rotary , volunteer working committees.  It’s a fun evening to enjoy with friends.  Watch for further details.  Doug Thompson will be heading up this event.

Another big downtown shopping spree is planned for March 19th celebrating St. Patrick’s Day.  Shamrock’s and Shenanigans scavenger hunt amongst downtown merchants.  Other merchants and/or organizations wishing to participate in providing 30 discount coupons which are held in a pot of gold at each participating location, please contact the Chamber for the rules and details of how this project works.  It is a fun shopping day in downtown Jefferson.

Stay tuned for more updates on Chamber Happenings!
