The Jefferson Bulldog baseball team topped Queen City by a score of 2-1 last week in Game One of The Brandon Goyne Tournament in Elysian Fields.
Winning pitcher was sophomore Bryce Clark.
The had a complete game allowing only two hits with10 strikeouts and four walks.
Jefferson senior catcher Ryan Yeater singled to lead off the top of the second inning.
After a passed ball, freshman Brayden Clark singled and brought Yeater home for the game’s first run.
Queen City tied the game in the top of the fourth on a single
After a strike out and a wild pitch, they singled up the middle to bring in the scoring run.
Jefferson scored the game’s final run in the fifth when sophomore Alex Aviles walked
Then senior Caden Whatley singled to right, but a base running error cost the Bulldogs.
After a Steve Washington strikeout, Luke McMullen walked.
Judsen Carter went in the game as a pinch runner and scored the winning run on a RBI by junior Knox Tomlinson.
The Bulldogs dropped Game Two to the Brookhill Guardians 16-1.
Carter went 1-2 and scored the Dawgs’ only run.
The went on to fall to East Texas Homeschool 5-4 in the EF Tourney before returning home Tuesday to face Waskom. Results were not available as of press time.
