JPD apprehends Exxon, Napa burglar

In Jefferson, you can run, but you can’t run far.

According to a press release from Jefferson Police Department Chief Florentino Perez, JPD arrested James Earl Warren JR, 33, late Wednesday evening following reports of burglary.

Warren allegedly robbed the Exxon station at Walcott/59 and Broadway around 8:30 p.m. then fled on foot.

Police then received a burglary alarm notice at Napa Auto Parts and found Warren walking around inside the store. He was unarmed, but “apparently on an unknown substance.” Warren was asked to leave the store but failed to comply.

Warren was unsuccessfully tased, began fighting the responding officer, and eventually fled on foot again.

He was quickly apprehended by officers in front of the Jefferson Primary School.

Warren was treated by EMS for injuries sustained from the burglary and booked into the Marion County Jail on:

  • Assault on a Peace Officer, Felony 2
  • Robbery, Felony 2
  • Burglary, State Jail Felony
  • Resisting Arrest, Misdemeanor A
  • Evading Arrest, Misdemeanor A

The assaulted officer sustained only minor injuries and will make a full recovery.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Parks and Wildlife assisted in the apprehension.
