The academic year is about to end, and there is an energy in the air. The month of May is full of excitement with graduation agendas, vacation plans, and summer camps. It is easy to get caught up in all the activity and put off important decisions that will affect a student’s future.

Many students are still deciding what to do about their educational future, it is important to make those decisions as soon as possible. Texas Tech University has deadline of August 1st for registration, however there are many things that need to be completed before that date such as:

• SAT/ACT testing results need to be submitted

• Campus Visit

• Admission Interview

A good way to get started is to make an appointment at the Texas Tech office of Professional Development & Academic Advising in downtown Jefferson, Texas located at 120 East Austin Street. If you wish to make an appointment by phone our direct line to schedule is 806-834-1909. You can also register online; below is a link to video that shows you how:

The 2 + 2 option

Many students have put off making the decision about attending a Tier 1 university like Texas Tech because of the distance involved and being so far away from their support system and family.

That’s why Texas Tech teamed up with community colleges throughout Texas to make it easier for students to transfer their work to Texas Tech University through our 2+2 programs. These programs allow students to complete key lower-division course a community college and through distance education. Locally, a student can begin their Texas Tech undergrad degree with our partners at Panola or Kilgore community colleges for the first two years. A student would then have the option of completing the next two years at the main campus in Lubbock, online, or at the Rockwall, Texas campus.

Stackable Credentials

Many Students who are unsure about attending college are exploring the process of stackable credentials based on a career path. This is the practice of taking a certificate based online or in person class and earning a certification. The student then has the option of using that certificate to find employment or earning another advanced certificate in the same field. Many times, this is more affordable way to eventually earning a degree.

TTU Jefferson has many certificate programs available If you would like to learn more about what TTU Jefferson has to offer, please come by the office, and explore our different degree and certificate programs.
