Recently the Jefferson City Council denied a request for JEDCO to fund a study to see the feasibility of a Railroad Quiet Zone in Jefferson.
The proposal would have studied the crossings, traffic flow, and safety equipment installed, and make a list of recommendations with potential costs to implement the Quiet Zone.
The proposal covered from the crossings just across the River in Downtown to the Texas 49/Broadway crossing. The crossings on MLK and Haywood street, as well as those on N. Cass and Mulberry street were not included. In the original presentation, the proposal makers did indicate those crossings could be estimated as they are similar to other crossings in town.
Please give your thoughts on the potential for a Quiet Zone in Jefferson.
