The Marion County Commissioners Court will hold their regular monthly meeting at 9 a.m. Monday morning in the District Courtroom. The meeting will also be available via Zoom (https://zoom.us/j/92263661990 Meeting ID 922 6366 1990). Public comment requests must be submitted to Vickie Smith, County Clerk, by 8 a.m. Monday by emailing the Public Comment Form found on the County’s website.
Game Room operations have been a topic of discussion on previous Commissioners Court meetings, and in March the Court reviewed a proposed set of regulations and implementation of a permitting system for the establishments. The Court asked for additional review and modifications by County Attorney Angela Smoak. Currently the County does not have any requirements on Game Rooms and Sheriff David McKnight had requested the Court implement requirements so his office could better oversee their operations. Until the 2019 Texas Legislative Session, Counties did not have a way to restrict or oversee Game Rooms.
There are three Game Rooms in the County.
Additional items on the agenda include:
- Designating May as Elder Abuse Prevention Awareness Month
- Approving a proposal from Bobcat Communications and Technologies for a Dispatch Console Center at a cost of $26,692
The Herald will be live for the meeting on FaceBook, the Herald’s YouTube Channel and the Herald‘s newly launched Marion County Government YouTube channel.
