  1. The election results as reported are rather confusing, since you are declaring winners and losers in several races. Yes, many of the local county elections are final, but the state wide ones are not. Abbot has not won re-election, but only the right to represent the Republicans in the general election. The same can be said about Paxton and Cronyn, they are in a run off for the republican nomination for the US Senate. And there was Democratic nomineeIf who ran unopposed for the US congressional and County Democratic Chair positions. The way this is reported May give the public the impression that these are decided races, and could have a chilling effect on the general election. So how you report this is very important.

While I appreciate the feedback, for a LOCAL ELECTION, those were the winners. It even stated: “On the State Level, Marion County voters chose …” I’m sorry you felt confused and concerned that national level folks would be looking at this small town paper to see who won a statewide race. The results and story stated they were the local winners. Meanwhile, I didn’t see you downtown, an hour from home, waiting on election results until 10p to put out what the local results were. Maybe, next time, instead of bitching, haul your happy ass downtown and look at them yourself. Or maybe better yet, get them and report on them yourself.
