Commissioners to Accept R&B, Fuel Bids After Extension, Appoint Interim Sheriff

Marion County Seal

The Marion County Commissioners Court will meet at 9a.m. Monday to again consider appointing an interim Sheriff to fill David McKnight’s unexpired term which ended on May 31. Commissioners tabled the appointment after brief discussions in a rare Executive Session and Special Meeting last week.

Road and Bridge Supplies and Fuel Bids will also be re-reviewed as the extension Commissioners set at their last meeting expires. Commissioners were concerned that their current providers had not submitted a bid and that “oil dirt” was not included in any of the received bids.

The Agenda includes:

  • Award Solid Waste Disposal Services Bids: Again, tabled at last meeting over concerns about a new “washout” fee which was added. Only one bid was received.
  • Discuss for Approval parking on county roadway or right-of-ways
  • Consider approval of 25 year airport lease for new tenants
  • Consider approval to purchase surgical masks in bulk: Tabled at last meeting as guaranteed “grant funds were not deposited yet”

The Herald will be live for this meeting.
