Auto Accident Claims Life of Jefferson Teen

An early morning single-car accident near Queen City today claimed the life of Jefferson teen Katelyn Mutai.

According to the family, Katelyn and a friend had been to a house party Saturday night, had left early, had breakfast, and were headed back to Jefferson. Katelyn was a passenger in the back seat of the vehicle. Alcohol is not suspected as a factor in the accident per the family. The other driver received minor injuries.

Katelyn was preparing for her senior year at Jefferson High School.

The family has asked to be allowed to spend time together during this time.

According to Sgt. Gregory Williams, Texas DPS Media Communications officer, the accident remains under investigation and no additional information is currently available.
