Gerald Lynn Wallace

Born in Andersonville, Tennessee, Lynn was the youngest child of Ralph Edward Wallace, Sr., and Lorene Wallace.

Lynn was preceded in death by his wife of thirty-six years Nancy Shannon Wallace, the mother of their two surviving children Mark Shannon Wallace of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Rebecca Wallace DeWare of Jefferson, Texas.
Lynn was, also, preceded in death by his second wife of twenty-one years Beverly Wallace, mother of Lynn’s surviving stepdaughter Cheryl Courtwright and husband Jerry of The Villages, Florida.

Surviving Lynn are six grandchildren, Robert DeWare and wife Nichole, Crawford DeWare and wife Amanda, Virginia DeWare Bragdon and husband Josh, Sean Wallace and wife Lauren, Shannon Wallace Norman and husband Ryan and Justin Courtwright and wife Christina and six great grandchildren, Hudson and Harper DeWare, Oliver Bragdon, Jasper and Nyssa Norman and Cash Courtwright.

Preceding Lynn in death were his brother Ralph Edward Wallace, Jr., and nephew Donald Wallace. Surviving Lynn are nephews Carey, David, and Eddie Wallace.

At the age of seventeen Lynn enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Following his discharge from service Lynn obtained a GED and with the help of the GI Bill entered the University of Tennessee where he received a degree in Journalism. Lynn pursued a career in journalism, sales, and marketing. He was a prolific reader and writer, having written two books. After moving to Jefferson, Lynn found his church home at the Jefferson Cumberland Presbyterian Church. While age had changed many of his life interests, his interest in reading, writing and Bible study never faded. At church he was lovingly nick=named “Junior Rabbi” by fellow members.

A Christian service of remembrance and celebration of Lynn’s life will be conducted by Pastor Mary Kathryn Kirkpatrick at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 26, 2020 at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. 501 E. Jefferson Street Jefferson, Texas 75657 with a reception following at the church.
