Michael Ty “Mike” Patterson, age 59, went home to heaven, Saturday, October 17, 2020. Michael passed at home with his devoted wife, Shelia (Kendrick) Patterson, at his side. He was a resident of Queen City TX.

He is survived by his wife Shelia (Kendrick) Patterson; daughter Whitney Gibbs Goebell and husband Caleb of Linden TX; brothers Travis Patterson of Queen City TX, and Ronny Patterson of Queen City TX; five grandchildren Lizzie, Mallori Kate, Gunner, Zillah, and Gabriel; mother-in-law Bess Kendrick of Jefferson TX; sister-in-law Angela Patterson of Atlanta TX; son-in-law Ethan Puckett of Atlanta TX; and Secretary of Patterson Pest Patrol and special friend LaToyia Thomas of Atlanta TX.
Michael Ty Patterson loved life. He loved and adored his wife, Shelia Patterson. They started their journey together on February 28, 2002, and lived every moment as if it were their last together. Never a dull moment with Mike and Shelia. Lots of food, fun, and laughter at the “Patterson Ranch”, as they named it. One of his favorite saying was “I don’t like kids today, but I may tomorrow!” and then he would burst out laughing with them. It would tickle him when they pranked him because he would somehow figure out how to prank them back.
Mike was an avid fisherman and hunter when he was younger. He could sit and tell lots of stories about fishing with his daddy and buddies on Sulphur River and Wright Patman Lake. He told a tale of “Calling up the Fish with his Daddy” – we all know what that meant! One of the last things he did was buy a “new boat.” John and he went to Bass Pro Shop one Saturday morning and he came back with a “brand new boat.” He said he may never get to fish in it, but at least he could look at it. He owned a new boat! When Mike and Shelia went on vacation in August 2020, at Ashley Mountain, JR Ashley took him out in his new boat at Lake O’ the Pines. He loved it.
Music was his passion. Mike loved Southern Gospel and Blue Grass music. He loved playing his guitar and hanging out with Summit Trace from North Carolina. When they came to town or needed a place to stay, he always welcomed Keith and the boys. He loved talking of playing and singing with Rex Jones and his brothers and sons, Rocky and Randy Jones. Mike and Shelia started a band on a whim from Wednesday night praise and worship at Calvary Tabernacle called “The Carpenter’s Crew.”
A visitation in Mike’s honor will be held at Calvary Tabernacle in Queen City TX, Tuesday, October 20, 2020, beginning at 12:00 PM and ending at 2:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at the same location, Calvary Tabernacle in Queen City TX, beginning at 2:00 PM. Mike will be interred at Antioch during a private family graveside service.
