The VA Medical Center in Shreveport has launched its COVID-19 Vaccinations in the past couple of weeks. I got a phone call from them on Sunday morning last week to schedule my appointment. The medical team is working seven days a week to give this project their utmost priority. A friend of mine here in Marion County got a call as well.
The shot went fast and each one of us were monitored for 30 minutes in case of any adverse reactions. I felt nothing unusual from my shot. I am scheduled to return Feb 3rd for my second dose.
I am not certain how they are going about notifying veterans to set their appointments. If you, as a Veteran, have not been contacted, I would suggest contacting the VA in Shreveport for an appointment. Their basic phone number is 318-221-8411. One of the medical clinics can probably help you get set up for an appointment.
