Marion County Declares Disaster Area

Marion County Judge Leward LaFleur declared Marion County a Disaster Area on Monday afternoon due to the winter weather.

The declaration states “Whereas the Judge of the County of Marion has determined that extraordinary measures must be taken to alleviate the suffering of the people and to protect or rehabilitate property…”

The declaration went into effect at noon on Monday and continues for up to seven days. It allows for the activation of the Marion County Emergency Plan.
