June 25, 1955-February 27, 2021
Eric Carter was a man like no other. He always did exactly what he wanted. He was a loved father, son, brother, significant other, and friend. He was a rock to so many. Even though he’d probably tell you to ‘quit runnin’ your head’ at the exact same time he was trying to help you. He wasn’t often one for sentiment, but caring for others was his driving force.
Being loved by him was a privilege. Full of wisdom and lessons and just plain ol’ ornery joy. He had the spirit of a child all the way til the end.
He was a policeman when he was younger, then grew to be a man with a rare talent for business, successfully building countless ones from the ground up. Literally.
He mastered everything that piqued his interest. He’d research a subject until he knew everything there was to know about it. And if you were close to him, you got to hear about it, in vivid (sometimes painful) detail.
He was an unrivaled story teller, always quick with a smile, and an (often inappropriate) joke.
He had 100 “irons in the fire” at all times and managed to never drop one. His interests ran the gambit from gold panning, to golf cart jockey, hydroponic gardener, fishing and most recently energy storage. But we’d be here all day if we tried to list them all. Mostly he just loved life, and chances are he is sitting on a mountain side somewhere with a camp pot of coffee, marlboro in hand just waiting for us to join him.
He was truly one of a kind.
Some of his last words were ‘quit fussin’ over me’.
He is preceded in death by his father, Eric Clinton Carter Sr.
