Chocolate Sunday pushed to April
The popular fundraiser for Jefferson’s community theatre, Chocolate Sunday, has been rescheduled for Sunday, April 18, at the city’s newest tourist attraction, the Hotel Jefferson beginning at 2 pm.
The Opera House Theatre Players will have the entry blanks ready soon for the event that allows all cooks and chefs of the area to bring in their best chocolate dish by 1 p.m. the day of for a contest that will be judged between 2 – 3 p.m. by at least two judges.
This year, a separate judging will include children of ages up to 12 years of age as well.
During the judging which usually takes the better part of an hour, those that donate at least $12 or more can come in and b e entertained by specialty musical acts that will perform along the lines of the “love” theme usually used by the group. The names will be announced at a later date.

Brookshire’s to maintain mask mandate
A in press release issued earlier this week, the Brookshire Grocery Company stated, “As an essential business through the ongoing pandemic, Brookshire Grocery Company’s top priority is the health and safety of our employee-partners, customers and communities.”
“Even after the statewide mask order is removed, BGC will strongly encourage customers and require employee-partners and vendors to wear face masks while in our stores.”
“Following the CDC’s guidelines, we will continue to uphold to our COVID-19 protocols to take proactive and preventive measures, including face masks, social distancing and sanitation practices beyond our normally stringent standards.
