According to a press release issued by Marion County Sheriff David Capps, Patty Annette Vaughn,31, of Pine Harbor, was found deceased on Saturday near her home.
On March 27, 2021 at approximately 4 p.m., Marion County Deputies conducted a welfare check at a residence located on Hide A Way Loop, approximately nine miles west of the city of Jefferson in Marion County.
While conducting the welfare check, deputies were not able to locate the person they were looking for. They did observe a quantity of illegal narcotics in plain sight and subsequently arrested Tommy Elvin Wadlington, 28, for possession of a controlled substance.
While in the residence, deputies noticed blood and through investigation, a body was discovered a short distance from the residence.
The victim was identified as Vaughn, 31.
A murder warrant was obtained and served on Tommy Elvin Wadlington while he was incarcerated at the Marion County Jail.
