Eleven highways in two area counties scheduled for new features
April 29, 2021
ATLANTA — Safety features will be added or enhanced along 11 sections of highways in Northeast Texas this coming year, according to plans approved in April by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
“This project is designed to reduce the severity of traffic incidents where vehicles leave the roadway,” said Paul Wong, Area Engineer for TxDOT in Texarkana. “We are looking at installing additional safety features on driveway culverts and drainage structures along several sections of highways in Cass and Marion Counties.
H. V. Caver, Inc. of Atlanta was awarded the contract for the construction on these projects with a bid of $2.7 million.
Work on the projects should begin in July of this year and take about 16 months to complete, Wong said.
