Public offices closed for holiday
Jefferson City Hall and all Marion County offices will be closed Monday, March 31 in observance of Memorial Day.
Commissioners Meet Today
The Marion County Commissioners Court will meet today at 9am for their final meeting of the month.
Commissioners will be opening and awarding Road and Bridge supplies and Fuel bids; reviewing the 2020 Financial Statements; consider ammending the 2021 budget by $70,480 for a Jail Improvement Project; and the possibility of reopening the Kellyville Community Center to the public for rental, among other items.

Memorial Day
Celebration at SouthSide Chapel
Everyone is invited the Memorial Day Celebration luncheon and program honoring military active duty and veterans at SouthSide Chapel in Ore City. The program starts at 2 p.m. and will include special patriotic music and guest speakers. You are invited and encouraged to share your military experience or family memory!
Prior to the program, a barbeque luncheon will be served from 12:30 to 1:45. Veterans and Active Duty Military and Spouses dine free as our thanks for their service. Cost is $9/plate that includes brisket or sausage, bread, beans, potatoe salad, dessert and beverage.
SouthSide Chapel is located at 1949 Pops Landing Road, 4 miles east of Hwy. 259 in Ore City, off Hwy 450.

Hot Air Balloon
Mini Glow Set
The Marion County Chamber of Commerce and the Jefferson Tourism Development Board are hosting a Hot Air Baloon Mini Glow at 5:30p on June 5 at the Cypress River Airport.
Ticekts are $10 per vehicle entry fee. Tethered Balloon Rides are $20 per person.
Texas Tech Offers Free Coding Class
Texas Tech University in Jefferson is offering a Free Coding Prep two-week course this summer.
The course is designed to help students “understand more about what they can go into with Cyber Security, Full Stack Web Development, or Software Engineering,” said Program Coordinator B.W. Brooks. “This is a great course to determine what you want to go into, and everyone should take this course.”
Start dates for the course are June 1, June 15, July 6, and July 20.
