Corine, one of two children was born on April 26, 1919, to the late Bessie Thomas and Jack Hughes in Holston, Louisiana. She attended school in Marion County and became a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church at an early age.
Corine married the late Booker T. Spencer of Marion County and resided there until her passing. Corine and Booker T. created a loving home for their 8 children: Bessie Williams (Jesse), Thelma Taylor (Roy Lee), Booker T. Spencer Jr. (Velma), Minnie Howard, O.V. Spencer, Rosie Guinn (John), Carolyn Spencer and James Spencer. Corine remained a faithful member of Bethlehem Baptist Church until her passing.
Corine was a loving, daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister -in-law. Corine enjoyed spending time with her family and attending church.
On May 29, 2021, Corine was peacefully called to her heavenly home after a brief illness. She is preceded in death by her daughter Carolyn Spencer, her husband Booker T. Spencer, two son-in-laws, Roy Lee Taylor and Jesse Williams, two grandsons, Dwayne Taylor and Jeffery Spencer her sister Cleo Guinn and her son, O.V. Spencer. Corine leaves to mourn six children, twenty grandchildren, forty-six great grandchildren, forty-two great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Services for Mrs. Corine H. Spencer,102, of Jefferson, Texas will be held on June 05, 2021 at 1:00pm at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Jefferson, Texas.
Visitation will be held from 12 noon until 5:00pm at Lewis & Walker Funeral Home.
