The Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to two 911 Calls Wednesday evening, transferred from Cass County, about a pedestrian having been hit by a vehicle out near Patillo Road.
Robert James Webster, 52, was struck by a vehicle around 6 p.m. Wednesday evening and the driver fled the scene.
Webster was life-flighted to Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler where he later succumbed to his injuries.
A witness report identified Cecil Ray King, 35, of Jefferson, as the driver of the vehicle. He was detained and is being held in the Marion County Jail awaiting arraignment.
Jefferson PD, Texas DPS, and Mims EMS units all assisted with the incident.
