Wedding Shower
Ian Gale and Madison Ho are inviting their church family and the community to attend a couples shower at 5p.m. Sunday at the Jefferson Transportation Center.
Football Practice Begins
The JHS Football Team will formally begin practice at 8 a.m. Monday, August 2, 2021, at the High School Athletic Building.
The first scrimmage is 10 a.m. August 7 at Lockett Field.
Team and Individual photos for programs will be taken at 8a.m. August 7.

Band Begins Rehearsals
The Jefferson Bulldog Band began rehearsals on Thursday this week and will begin daily work starting Monday at the High School.
• August 2-5 2-5p.m. and 6-8:30 p.m
• August 6: 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Practice and Uniform Fitting
August 9-10: 5-8:30 p.m.
• August 11-12: 2-5p; 6-8:30pm

JHS Schedule Pickup Set
We are excited to welcome all students back to school for the 2021-22 year! All JHS students will be able to pick up their 2021-22 high school course schedules on the following dates in the JHS Commons.
• Seniors: Tuesday, August 3rd, 9 a.m. – Noon
• Juniors: Wednesday, August 4th, 9a.m. – Noon
• Sophomores: Thursday, August 5th, 9a.m.- Noon
• Freshmen: Bulldog Camp will take place Friday, August 6th from 9-10:30 a.m. in the JHS Commons. This will include schedule pickup, orientation, and a campus tour. Please plan to attend.
JISD Substitute Training Set
Substitute Training for the 2021-2022 school year will be held from 9 a.m. to Noon, Tuesday, August 3, at the Jefferson High School Commons area, #1 Bulldog Drive.
In order to be placed on the JISD Substitute Teacher List for this year, you must attend the training.

Council to Talk Budget
Jefferson City Council will begin budget discussions for the 2021-2022 City Fiscal Budget Year at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Jefferson Visitors Center.
The public is invited to attend and provide feedback on proposed items and projects.
Mediterranean Buffet Returns
Starting at 1 p.m. Sunday, August 8, at Bulldog Pizza, their Mediterranean Buffet will be returning.
Dishes to be served include: Mediterranean Steak, Beef Ribs, Lemon Chicken, Stuffed Grape Leaves, Baklava, and Fresh Pastries.
During the buffet process they ask that diners please wear a mask to protecct the safety of themselves and the other guests. Masks will be available at the start of the buffet.

Texas Master Naturalists Class Planned
The Cypress Basin Chapter of Texas Master Naturalists is beginning a new training class August 20. The required 40 hours of training is spread over 4 months, one weekend a month (Friday 6-9pm and Saturday 9-5). Cost is $40 for an individual or $55 for a couple. This is a huge reduction in fees! Being a Master Naturalist includes volunteering to provide education, outreach, and service dedicated to the beneficial management of natural resources and areas in East Texas. JHS Strutters Challenge Others
The 2021-2022 JHS Strutters have issued an online challenge to the JHS Cheerleaders to show off their skills and Bulldog Spirit by posting online video in the Dawg Pound FaceBook group.
The Strutters have posted a video of them learning their newest choreography.

The Marion County Chamber of Commerce is seeking participants for their annual Taste of Jefferson event on October 17.

Farmers Ins Office Moves
Burleson Insurance, the Marion County Farmers Insurance Agent, has relocated their offices from Vale Street to 609 N Polk Street. They are in the same building as East Texas Realty on the corner of Broadway and Polk. Their telephone number, 903-665-8048, remains the same.
Tax Assessor Mails Postcards
Karen Jones, the Marion County Tax Assessor/Collector, mailed out postcards this week providing information on where property owners can go to obtain a calculation on what their property taxes will be under the various proposed tax rates.
The postcards are required under SB2 and HB3.
Jones said she will be updating the website with pertinent information concerning tax rates, hearings and adoptions. The website will show property owners an estimate of what to expect on their tax bill in October.

JISD has scheduled Meet the Teacher fo rthe 2021-22 school year.
• Jefferson Primary: August 12, 4:30–6 p.m.
• Jefferson Elementary: August 12, 5-6:30 p.m.
• Jefferson Junior High: August 12, 5-7 p.m. The Kona Ice Truck is scheduled to be present.
• Jefferson High School: September 8, 5-7 p.m. Parents will be able to pickup the 3 week progress report as well.
