Commissioners to Address Marion County Assistance District for November Ballot

Marion County Seal

Marion County Commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. Monday and will discuss the items necessary to create the Marion County Assistance District and getting it on the November election ballot for resident approval.

The district would impost a 2 cent sales tax on items sold in the county and those funds would be used to pay for items like road improvement. The City of Jefferson would NOT be a part of the district and would not have the additional sales tax. The funds would also not be used on projects inside the city limits.

Other items on the agenda include:

  • approval of 911 PSAP agreement for 2022-2023 with ETCOG
  • declare a 1996 555E New Holland Backhoe for Precinct 3 surplus and sell through AuctioneerExpress
  • consider semi-annual maintenance proposal for Courthouse HVAC services for 5 years with Mechanical Concepts
  • consider accepting a 1930s desk from Dr. Bruce and Beverly Bradley
  • Consider naming an unnamed stream as Sims Creek per request by US Board of Geographic Names
  • Consider 2022 Sheriff and Constable Fees

Commissioners meet in their courtroom on the 2nd floor of the Courthouse Annex.

The Herald/Jimplecute will be live for this meeting.
