Mr “Don” Freeman Densil Horton, 88, of Jefferson, Tx, passed away Thursday morning February 10, 2022 with his beloved family by his side.
Mr Horton was born May 14, 1933 deep in the Ozark’s in Snowball, Arkansas to Talmage and Sis Horton. After High School Mr Horton served our country in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. Soon after the war he moved to Longview, Tx in the mid 1950’s Mr Horton was a longtime machinist with RG LeTourneau. Later on he worked and retired from Marathon Federal Credit Union in Longview as a Loan Officer.
Dad was passionate his entire life about hunting and fishing with his sons Wendell and Randy and enjoyed reliving their ever-growing fish tales. He also looked forward to his weekly weekend dominoes games with all of his friends at the lake and to his Wednesday evening dinner group.
Mr Horton is preceded in death by his parents and his son Wendell Horton. He leaves behind his most loving family including son Randy Horton and wife Brenda of Rockwall, Tx. Erika Spink, love of Wendell of Hempstead, Tx. Grandchildren Chris Horton of Hallvsille, Tx, Brian Horton and wife Amber of Rhome, Tx, Valerie Kang and husband Bong of Tulsa, OK, Adam Horton of Dallas, Tx, Kevin Horton of Charlotte, NC and Katie Horton of Austin, Tx. He was blessed with 10 amazing great-grandchildren who made him laugh including Cole & Jake Horton, Owen & Brodie Russell, Faith Kang, Kamron Horton, Dillon Woods, Ace Bauermeister and Beau & Tripp Horton. He has numerous extended family throughout Texas and Arkansas who love him dearly. Also left behind to cherish his memories is his very special friend Jaynie Warren who holds a dear place in our family and all of those he’s met throughout his years who have claimed him as their family.
The family of Don Horton would like to give our heartfelt thanks to Longview Regional Hospital and the entire around the clock staff that worked and sat with us for 2weeks. To Heart to Heart Hospice for the unbelievable amazing care and love you showed dad his last 5 days.
To Jaynie Warren who shared years with him as his best friend, longtime love and became his perfect Caregiver his past couple of years.
Visitation will be held Monday February 14, 2022 from 1:00pm -3pm at Lakeview Funeral Home in Longview, Tx. A Graveside service will immediately follow at 3:00pm.
