Warehouse a bad idea
Letter to the Editor,
Thanks to a concerned citizen and the Texas Freedom of Information Act, I have learned my neighbor at 305 S. Alley would like to build an industrial warehouse and a large covered parking lot suitable for large trucks.
The historic district in Jefferson is distinctive and charming. We are blessed by many stately homes and beautiful Bed and Breakfasts such as Captain’s Castle and the Claiborne House. All who live in this district value history and wish to maintain dignified structures and surrounding areas.
The aforementioned proposal does not coincide with the historic district in any way. At the least it will be an eyesore for residents as well as tourists.
Please, contact your City Council representative and voice your opposition to this project. Attend the City Council meeting May 17, 2022. Remember, the next bad idea could happen in your backyard.
Sincerely,
Alexandra C. Holton
Jefferson, Texas
Just curious, but on what grounds woulda building permit be denied? There is nothing in the city ordinances, and no historic district at all, in terms of restrictions, etc on buildings to stop him.
