The 15u Jefferson Allstars took second place at the Ranger State Series in Sulphur Springs over the weekend.
The State Series began July 8 with pool games.
After topping Cleveland 4-2 and falling 3-2 against Franklin County, Jefferson seeded seventh out of 11 to begin bracket play the following morning.
They opened with a 3-0 win over Palestine on Saturday morning and were the underdogs against going into their next game against Liberty.
“Our defense was strong with Janyah Taylor making some huge plays at second base for us,” Coach Tyranni Braddock said.
Taylor alone had nine outs.
We took the win 6-3 advancing on to meet Atlanta that night at 9 p.m.,” Braddock said.
Emma Galey sent a homerun over the fence and helped cap off win 14-1 win over the Rabbits.. They squared back up against Franklin County on Sunday — the same team who previously beat beath them by a one-run margin in pool play.
Jefferson bats were hot and, with great defense again, Jefferson won 8-2 and went into Championship game undefeated.
“We fought hard against Anahuac but lost 8-6, for our first loss (in Bracket play),” Braddock said. “In return, we had to play the “IF” game which resulted in a second loss to Anahuac.”
