Dawgs fall to Timpson, look to Bounce back tonight at home

The Jefferson Bulldog football team dropped to 1-1 on the season after a 52-29 loss to Timpson on the road last Friday night.

Though the Bulldogs got on the board late, the Bears seemed to have the answers all night on defense.

No Bulldog surpassed 100 yards rushing and both hometown quarters were kept to 50% completion ratios all night. And both threw interceptions.

EJ Burns completed four of eight attempts for 74 yards passing and two touchdowns.

His longest was a 47-yard dart to Ronald Garret for a score.

Burns’ other touchdown pass was to Chris Bowman for 20 yards and daydirt.

Bolman also took snaps under-center and completed five of ten attempts of a total of 27-yards passing.

Jace Lahay led the Bulldog ground game with 38 yards on five carries. Burns chipped in 34 yards on five carries.

Burns also led the defensive effort with seven solo tackles and two assists.

The Bears went 13 for 20 with 179 yards passing and two touchdowns.

They rushed for 311 on 39 carries with six touchdowns.

On defense, the Bears forced three Bulldog turnovers.

The Bulldogs look to bounce back tonight in homecoming action against De Kalb at WF Lockett Stadium.

The newly renovated turf field will be dedicated and the 2022 Homecoming Queen will be crowned at 6:30p.m., all before the 7 p.m. kick-off.
