Varsity Lady Dawgs beat QC

The Jefferson High School varsity Lady Bulldog basketball team picked up a 55-52 win over Queen City Tuesday night at home.

Kristen Thomas lead the attack with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 6 steals.

Taurria Hood had 14 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals.

Jaida Bray had 12 points and 6 rebounds.

Jordyn Davidson had 7 points, 6 assists and 5 steals.

The Varsity Lady Dawgs are now 2-1 on the season and return to action on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the New Diana tournament. 

The JV squad lost a hard-fought game against Queen City 22-15.

Eden Hopes had five points in that game.

Ava Phillips had four points. 

The JV returns to action next Monday at New Diana.

JJH Lady Pups top Tatum

Both Jefferson Junior High Lady Bullpup basketball teams picked up district wins over Tatum Monday night. 

The seventh grade team won 37-29. 

Janaa Goynes led the team in scoring with 13 points 

Jade Mallory was close behind with12 points. 

Shaneice Smith had six points, Ta’Nazia Alexander with four points and Stormi McNeil chipped in two points. 

The eighth grade team won 33-19. 

Mariya Johnson and Chloe Wood led the scoring with eight points each.

Maddie Cooner had seven points.

Rayleigh Gulk had four points, Karly Long had three, Jazmyne Luster offered two points and Avery Ephram chipped in one point.   

After Thanksgiving break, the Lady Bullpups will face Troup on the road on November 28. 

The wins over Taum came after the teams went went 1-1 on Thursday against Hallsville. 

The seventh grade Lady Bulldogs dominated with a 47-9 win over Hallsville.

They were led in scoring by Janaa Goynes with 28 points. 

Jade Mallory offered six points. 

Jasiah Williams and Ta’Nazia Alexander scored four points a piece.

Kaliyah Whitaker had three points and Shaniece Smith had two points.  

The eighth grade Lady Bulldogs lost their game to Hallsville in a close one 27-22.  

They were led in scoring by Maddie Cooner with 11 points.

Chloe Wood landed six points, Mariah Jonson had four points and Rayleigh Gulk chipped in one point. 

JH boys win against Waskom 

Both Jefferson Junior High boys’ basketball teams landed big wins against Waskom last week.

The seventh grade squad won 44-4.
