Sharing and posting

We both love and hate the proliferation of events and activities on FaceBook.

It’s great as it allows information to be shared quickly and lots of people see it – if they’ve been interacting with your page. We follow lots of people, groups, and organizations and capture a lot of information on our community online and try to reuse as much as we can in the paper each week. We also share as much as we can.

We also copy and paste a fair number of posts out of groups and pages to the Jimplecute website. We do this when the permissions don’t allow for a direct share.

Hugh recently got a direct message asking him to reshape a post like he’s done on some others. The post had to do with the successes of some of JISD students.

Hugh explained to the person that he’s love to share the post, but could t because of permission issues. The post was set to Friends and not Public. So it couldn’t be shared to the Jimplecute FB page as it’s a Public page.

The person insisted that the post was shareable. It was explained that yes but only friends could reshare the post and it had to be to Friends only. And as a result it could t share to the Jimplecute page. The person wasn’t believing it and kept insisting it could be and that Hugh just didn’t want to share the post.

We have this issue with everything that’s posted in the Dawg Pound. It’s a private group. The JISD page is public but we don’t see a lot of those posts because one has to interact with the posts to get them in ones feed. So we copy and paste to the website a lot of the postings.

The issue out of all of this is that FaceBook is great but remember that it’s always best to send us information directly. One of us is almost always online and responding to something.

You can email us directly at JeffersonJimplecute@gmail.com. Text them to 903-240-9049 (Hugh) or 903-665-2462 (Jimp main number). You can tag the “Marion County Herald and Jefferson Jimplecute” or Hugh on FB. But if you tag and want it shared, be sure it’s Public.

We love our kids (and adults) here in Marion County. We want to share their accomplishments!
