Diaper Giveaway

Starlight Church of God in Christ is holding a Diapers and Wipes giveaway from 10a to Noon on Saturday at the Church, 307 Black Cypress in Jefferson. 

Shamrock Fun

Shamrocks & Shenanigans is back! The annual event, this year from 10a0-5p March 18, has green shamrocks hidden throughout participating businesses offering finders a drawing for a door prize at the business. Participating businesses so far include Made In the Shade, Red Bus Cupcakes, Art on the Bayou, Gold Leaf Antiques, Jefferson General Store, LaFleur Couture Self Care Boutique, Calavera Leather & Cigar Co, Calavera Home, and The Lazy Draft. Farm Tour

Shady Grove Ranch is holding “Farm Tour 2.0” – March 18 at 9am. Folks enjoyed our “classic” tour so much they wanted more! Here’s a longer version with more livestock species, more hiking, and more natural beauty. Learn all about regenerative agriculture and how it benefits consumers, animals, and the environment. Farmers Market

 Coming to the Mims Community Center 12728 Fm 729 north side of Lake O the Pines, a farmers market starts March 25, 2023 through spring growing season and early fall every Saturday from 10am to 2pm. $25 to reserve a space for the 2023 season. Edible and usable items preferred. Plants for spring gardening will lead off the start of this project with baked goods, fresh eggs and much more. Additional information 903-930-5104.

MCDCSCO at 20

MCDCSCO will celebrate 20 year’s of service to the community and recognize it’s founding members at 2p.m. April 1 at the Jefferson Community Center. Everyone invited to attend.

Miata Madness

Rummage Sale

The Marion County Chamber of Commerce has opened registration for their Annual Spring City Wide Rummage Sale, March 30-April 1. To be included on the printed map, registration forms, along with $20, needs to be submitted to the Chamber by March 27. Recycling

Jefferson Rotary Club will hold an Electronic Recycling Day from 9-Noon April 22 at the First national Bank parking lot. Help unloading will be available. 

Pastured Poultry

Shady Grove Ranch is offering a Pastured Poultry Workshop – Saturday, April 22 at 9am. A half day training workshop with East Texas Farmer Matt Cadman, who has 13+ years experience raising poultry on pasture using rotational systems here in East Texas. Will cover a variety of topics on meat birds, egg layers, and turkeys. Lunch included. Located at Shady Grove Ranch in Jefferson, Texas. Limited attendance. Tickets must be purchased ahead of time. Shop Closing

Essential Repose, the essential oils shop on Walnut street is closing at end of March. Everything is going, so there are deals on inventory, furniture, fixtures, etc. Some get it before it’s gone!

Scholarship

Lone Star Ag Credit is currently accepting scholarship applications from graduating high school seniors in the class of 2023. Six seniors will receive a $2,500 scholarship, and if they are a 4H/FFA member, their club will receive $500. Applications must be postmarked by March 17. The packet is available at https://lonestaragcredit.com/scholarship-application-2023.
