WINNSBORO, TX —Winnsboro Festival of Books 2023, May 6 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. is presented by Winnsboro Center for the Arts and features activities on The Bowery in downtown Winnsboro.
More than 30 published authors will be in attendance in both adult and children’s literature. A wide variety of genres are represented: mystery, suspense, science fiction, romance, inspirational, young adult, travel, urban fantasy, Christian, history, and more.
The popular children’s book character “Pete the Cat” is scheduled to be at the event in costume, ready for photo opportunities with kids of all ages and handing out free books for kids. The children’s activity tent features children’s literature including chalk painting and has all the supplies needed for kids to create their own art.
The festival includes presentations from both children and adult authors, and poetry readings throughout the day from members of the Fort Worth Poetry Society.
Special guest children’s authors, Chris Barton and Robyn McGrath, are on site throughout the morning for story time and book signings.
Winnsboro Center for the Arts has partnered with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library program and kicks off the Winnsboro Chapter of this program during the festival. Every child enrolled in the Imagination Library program receives high-quality, age-appropriate books in the mail – one book per month until a child’s fifth birthday – at no cost to families. The Imagination Library mails more than 1.8 million high-quality, age-appropriate books each month to registered children all over the world.
The mission of WCA’s annual book festival is to bring readers and writers together to share in a myriad of adventures that books offer as they expand knowledge, spark imagination, and encourage life-long learning for people of all ages.
