Bees
Honeybees are out in full swarm now that summer is almost here. If you have bees, don’t call an exterminator. Instead, call Stamford Brantley at 903-742-2765 and let him help remove and relocate them.
Pancakes
The Jefferson Masonic Lodge is holding a Pancake Breakfast from 7-10a Saturday across from the Jefferson Historical Museum. Donations are $8.
VFW Fish Fry
The Jefferson chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will host their monthly First Saturday Fish Fry this weekend. Set for 11a–2p Saturday, June 3, lunch will include fried fish, fries, coleslaw, beans and a drink— all for a $10 donation. Dessert will be available for $1. Lunch can be enjoyed dine-in or carryout from the Post at 1399 US-59, Jefferson. All donations are tax deductible and proceeds will benefit the Post.
Kid’s Fish Day
The 24th Annual Kid’s Fish Day will start at 8a June 3rd at Hurricane Creek Recreation Area at Lake O’the Pines. Each year on the first Saturday in June, anglers across the state pack their tackle boxes and get their fishing poles ready for the Texas tradition of Free Fishing Day. This year, Free Fishing Day lands on June 3 and Texans can fish on any public waterbody in the state without a fishing license. Find more info on our website: jimplecute.com

NAPA of Jefferson will be holding their annual Customer Appreciation Day on June 9 at the shop, just off West Broadway. They will have a “marathon tour of incredible tool sales and giveaways” from 9a-3p June 9. There will also be local vendors
Broadband
The Texas Broadband Development Office is preparing to administer key federal programs from the 2021 Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, including funds for State Planning Grants to expand digital opportunities. The Texas BDO wants to hear from constituents in your area about barriers to digital opportunities. Your participation will not only help close the digital divide in our state but will also highlight the important work of organizations throughout Texas helping our communities get connected online. The Marion County Republican Assembly is hosting a discussion by the Texas Public Policy foundation on School Choice options at 6:30p June 13 at the Jefferson Visitor Center. Roy Maynard with TPPF will be leading the discussion. For more information,
Women’s Day
Bethlehem Baptist Church in Smithland will hold a Women’s Day Program during their morning worship service at 11:30a June 11. The program is entitled “Express Yourself Through the Word of God” and will include speakers Sis. Comeaka James of Rock Springs Outreach Missions Church in Plain Dealing, La., and Sis. Marlynda Ware of Egypt Hill Baptist Church, Plain Dealing.

Farmers Market
- • The Mims Community Center 12728 Fm 729 north side of Lake O the Pines, is holding a farmers market every Saturday from 10am to 2pm through July 8th for the Spring Growing Season and then will reopen for early fall season. For additional information, call 903-930-5104.
