Veterans did you know that you may be eligible for Special/ Disabled Vehicle License Plates and Permits?
A Texas driver’s license or ID card may be provided free-of-charge to a veteran who is honorably discharged, with a service-connected disability of at least 60% or more. Disabled Veterans, Former POW, Purple Heart, and Medal of Honor plates are among the special license plates available. Disabled veterans must have a service-connected disability rating of 50% or greater or 40% due to amputation of a lower extremity. They must have been honorably discharged if no longer a member of the service. The surviving spouse is entitled to continue to resister one vehicle with the specialty license plate as long as they remains unmarried. There may be a reduction in registration fees depending on which Plates you are eligible for.
