Heat Alert

Texas Division of Emergency Management wants to remind everyone that summer heat is here and safety precautions should be observed. Remember: Heat-related deaths and illnesses are preventable; never leave people or pets in vehicles; and hydrate before going out into the heat.

VFW Meeting

The VFW Post will meet at 6:30p July 10 at Christ Episcopal Church to discuss what to do following the fire which damaged the post building. Mr. Cooper has requested that all members be present.

Summer Pride

Summer Pride workouts will resume at 8a July 10 for 2023 Fall athletes at JISD.

Aqua Texas

Aqua Texas will be holding an Open House starting at 5p July 13 at 12728 FM 729. Local and state leadership, engineering, environmental and customer service teams will all be on site to meet you and answer questions. This is a great time for you to have your questions and concerns answered face to face. This is just another step we have taken, in many steps, since our January meeting that kicked this off! The MCRA will be helping to facilitate this and will be there alongside our friends and neighbors!

Psalms Journey

Psalms Journey, Dallas’ premier Southern Gospel Group will be performing in Jefferson at 6 p.m. July 15 at Jefferson First Assembly. There will be a reception following the concert.

Fashion Show

The Women at the Well of Encouragement of Jefferson are hosting a “Fashion Show and Dinner Fundraiser” to aide our Children and Family Humanitarian Aide Programs. They are seeking Models of all ages, male and female to participate in a “Great Family Fun Event.” You are not required to be a Professional Model!  Please hurry and register soon! Fashion Show from 3-7p July 15 at Jefferson Visitors Center, 305 E Austin. Dinner will be served at 4pm. Tickets are $10 a person from 12years and up. Football

Football is only a few weeks away with the first scrimmage being August 11, and the first home game on August 24 (JV) and August 25 (V). The Jimplecute is again producing the Jefferson Athletic Booster Club Football Program so get your ad in early and support the JABC and Jefferson athletics. Bees

Honeybees are out in full swarm now that summer is almost here. If you have bees, don’t call an exterminator. Instead, call Stanford Brantley at 903-742-2765 and let him help remove and relocate them.

Farmers Market

  • • The Mims Community Center 12728 Fm 729 north side of Lake O the Pines, is holding a farmers market every Saturday from 8am to Noon through July 8th for the Spring Growing Season and then will reopen for early fall season. For additional information, call 903-930-5104.
  • The Historic Jefferson Farmer’s Market is open every Saturday through the end of October in the First National Bank parking lot in downtown Jefferson.
  • Jefferson Academy Marketplace is now open across from the old Napa store. They have yellow squash, zucchini, cucumbers, carrots, beans, herbs, and blackberries. All grown at the Academy.
