Now for our regular readers, this may seem like a silly post. Dumb almost.
HOWEVER, due to the recent national news about the Marion County Record, in Marion, Kansas, it’s caused some confusion.
We’re happy to support community newspapers across the country and stand with the Marion Record over their recent attacks, but, if you’re looking to support them by subscribing, please make sure you’ve got the right paper first.
There’s actually a lot of confusion we receive from folks looking for other “Marion County” or “Marion” references. There’s 17 different Counties across the Country named Marion – mostly for General Francis Marion:
- Florida
- Kansas
- Oregon
- Alabama
- Arkansas
- Georgia
- Illinois
- indiana
- Iowa
- Kentucky
- Mississippi
- Missouri
- Ohio
- Oregon
- South Carolina
- Tennessee
- West Virginia
The City’s list is just as bad:
- Marion is a city in Guadalupe County, Texas
- Jefferson, Texas, is located in Marion County, Texas
- Jefferson County is located near Houston (to the East)
- Marion, Iowa
- Marion, Illinois
- Marion, Florida
- Marion, Alabama
- Marion, Ohio
- Marion, Indiana
- Marion, North Carolina
- Marion, Arkansas
- Marion, South Carolina
- Marion, Wisconsin
- Marion, Utah
- Marion, Mississippi
- Marion, Massachusetts
- AND I’m sure there’s some I’ve missed
And don’t get me started on the Jefferson’s. There’s too many of them to list.
