Car Seats
Jefferson Police Department has partnered with TxDOT to provide a limited number of car seats, professional installation, and education courses in the near future. The event was originally scheduled for August 26, but has been temporarily cancelled. The car seats, installation and training are all free. Vaccines
Jefferson ISD is having Student Immunizations for those that need them. Immunizations include: Meningitis (MCV4 & Men B) which are required for colleges; DTaP, Polio (IPV), MMR, Varicella, Hep A, Hep B, Hib, all required for incoming 7th graders; DTaP, Polio (IPV), MMR, Varicella, possibly Hep A, Hep B, Hib, all required for Pre-K/K. The deadline to signup is Aug 28. If student does not have insurance, cost is $10/shot up to age 18, then adult prices. Provided by Aurora Concepts LLC.
VFW Fish Fry
The Jefferson Veterans of Foreign Wars will resume their monthly Fish Fry on Saturday, Sept. 9 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church. The lunch will include fried fish, fries, coleslaw, beans and a drink— all for a $10 donation. Dessert will be available for $1. Lunch can be enjoyed dine-in or carryout. Are donations are tax deductible and proceeds will benefit the Post. The Post’s building was damaged last month by fire, and the July event was cancelled. Come support the VFW as they get things started again!

Rodeo
The Becca Anderson Memorial Rodeo Royalty Contest is gearing up with the contest set for Sept. 23 and Rodeo Sept. 29-30. The age groups for the contest are Queen (16-20), Princess (10-15), and Jr. Princess (5-9). Honeybees are out in full swarm now that summer is almost here. If you have bees, don’t call an exterminator. Instead, call Stanford Brantley at 903-742-2765 and let him help remove and relocate them.
Farmers Market
• The Mims Community Center 12728 Fm 729 north side of Lake O’the Pines, is back open for the Fall and will run through early October. For additional information, call 903-930-5104.
• The Historic Jefferson Farmer’s Market is open every Saturday through the end of October in the First National Bank parking lot in downtown Jefferson.
• Jefferson Academy Marketplace is open across from the old Napa store. They have yellow squash, zucchini, cucumbers, carrots, beans, herbs, and blackberries. All grown at the Academy.
CPR & Stop the Bleed
Jefferson Police Department has partnered with Christus EMS and the Jeffersonian Institute to offer CPR and Stop the Bleed training on September 9. Space is limited to the first 20 registrants.
