PAACC Meets
The Pyland African American Cemetery Charter (PAACC) will hold it’s Annual Board of Directors meeting Saturday, September 23, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at Pyland Cemetery. The Public is welcome. Contact us @ www.thepaacc.org
Poinsettias
The Jessie Allen Wise Garden Club is pre-ordering Poinsettias for the Christmas Holidays. Plants are $18 each this year and are available in Pink, Red, and White. Deadline to order is Sept. 27. Forms and more information can be obtained at the Excelsior House Hotel.
Game Night
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Jefferson Group is hosting a game night starting at 6p Sept 27 at the Jefferson Visitors Center. The event is free and open to the public.
Coat Drive
The Jefferson Rotary Club will be holding a Coat Drive starting October 1. Last year the group provided 50 coats for kids in the area and they are hoping to double that number this year. The drive will run through December 1.
National Night Out
Jefferson will celebrate National Night Out on Oct 3 from 5:30-8p at the Jefferson Visitor Center, 305 E Austin. This is a free event to come out and meet the public servants who serve Marion County – Police, Sheriff, Fire Departments and EMS. There’s games, free food, and lots of activities.
Meet the Author
Former Jefferson resident and retired Episcopal Priest David Puckett will be presenting his new book, Eye on the Sparrow, at a Meet the Author event sponsored by the Jefferson Carnegie Library at 530p Oct. 11. There will be wine and light refreshments served and the event is free and open to the public.
Cowboys
The Gray VFD and Gray Potters Point Community Center are holding a raffle fundraiser for 2 or 4 tickets to see the Dallas Cowboys play December 30 at AT&T Stadium. For 2 tickets and a parking pass, Section 412, Row 3, Seats 13 & 14, raffle tickets are $10 each. For 4 tickets and a parking pass, Section 412, Row 3, Seats 15, 16, 17, & 18, raffle tickets are $20 each. For more information or to purchase tickets, contact a representative from Gray VFW or Community Center. The Drawing will be held at noon, November 18, at the Community Center.

Farmers Market
- • The Mims Community Center 12728 Fm 729 north side of Lake O’the Pines, is back open for the Fall and will run through early October. For additional information, call 903-930-5104.
- • The Historic Jefferson Farmer’s Market is open every Saturday through the end of October in the First National Bank parking lot in downtown Jefferson.
- • Jefferson Academy Marketplace is open across from the old Napa store. They have yellow squash, zucchini, cucumbers, carrots, beans, herbs, and blackberries. All grown at the Academy.
Thanksgiving Dinner
The 4th Annual Elderly Thanksgiving Dinner will be held at the Jefferson Community Center located at 501 N Haywood St. Jefferson, Tx 75657 on Saturday November 18th starting at 3pm until all food is gone. Dine in and delivery options will be available. We look forward to serving the elderly, disabled, as well as the Marion county Sheriff and police department.

Honeybees are out in full swarm now that summer is almost here. If you have bees, don’t call an exterminator. Instead, call Stanford Brantley at 903-742-2765 and let him help remove and relocate them.
