Mairon County residents had a lot to smile about this week as last weekends storms brought much needed rain, as well as an end to the County’s almost 2 month burn ban.

Marion County Judge Leward LaFleur lifted the ban at 9a Monday, Sept. 25, but still asked residents to take precautions if they chose to burn.

“The rain provided much needed relief,” said LaFleur, “but things are still very dry across the county. I encourage  you to take all precautions if burning and have on hand fire extinguishers and water hoses just in case.”

Marion County Commissioners also met Monday morning in their regular meeting.

They approved the County Auditor to send out notifications for applications for Indigent Attorney and Conflict Attorney contracts.

Commisisoners also approved a resolution adopting the Marion County Flexible Benefit Plan for Dec. 1, 2023 to Nov. 30, 2024. The plan, also called a “cafeteria plan” through Colonial Insurance, provides County employees an option on additional insurance benefits besides those provided by the County’s TAC benefit plan.
