Rodeo fun begins this weekend

Staff Reports

The Becca Anderson Memorial Rodeo Committee are very excited and proud to announce Miss Maybreigh Lindley of Jefferson has been crowned their very first Jr. Princess. The six-year-old, daughter of Shelby and Morgan Lindley, will be present this weekend at the 4th annual memorial rodeo to assist with the mutton busting, kids stick horse races and doing what she loves most, having an opportunity to meet people and make them smile!

The rodeo, scheduled for September 29th and 30th, begins each night at 7:30p and promises excitement for all ages. In addition to the usual rodeo and kid events, the scholarship team calf scramble for high school students is again scheduled. Also returning for the fans’ entertainment will be the Red Dirt Riders drill team, rodeo clown and barrel man Preston Broxson and Dusty Halbmaier aka The Kid in the Can.

The mutton busting entry fee is $15 for kids 8 and under with a maximum weight of 60 lbs. Sign ups for the mutton as well as the kids stick horse races for ages 5 and under (no fee) begin at 7p. Gate admission is $10 for adults, kids 12 and under $5 and ages 3 and under are free.

Raffle tickets will be available for the Cabela’s 4 burner grill & griddle and Cabela’s 60-quart cooler for $5 a ticket or 5 for $20. Drawing will be Saturday night during the rodeo. Riverport Barbeque has donated four gift cards as raffle items, two winners each night.

The Jefferson Livestock Association will again offer a great menu at the concession stand so plan on your evening meal at the arena!

The rodeo, the main fundraiser for the Becca Anderson Memorial Scholarship Program, is made possible through the continued support and generous sponsorships of individuals and area businesses.
