The Jefferson Varsity Lady Dawgs lost to Hooks, 32-29, in the season opening game featuring seven lead changes on Tuesday.
Despite getting out to a 21-15 lead at halftime, but the Lady Dawgs couldn’t hold on for the victory. Trailing 28-20, Hooks went on to an 11-point run to take the lead.
Jefferson played particularly well in the second quarter, outscoring Hooks 11-7.
Kristen Thomas led the Lady Dawgs in scoring with 13 points, and the Dawgs rebounded well, collecting 27 rebounds. Keinysa Wallace led the team with six rebounds. They pressured the ball all game, collecting 13 steals and Keyasia Black leading the team with five steals. Jordyn Davidson had 6-points, Taurria Hood 5 points, Black 2 points, Akilah Brasher w points, and Wallace with 1 point rounded out the scoring.
Next the Lady Dawgs will travel to Daingerfield for play starting at 5p Saturday.
