Services for James Stoutjesdyk will be held 3:00 p.m. on Friday, November 24, 2023 at Hilliard Funeral Home with Pastor John Lindsey officiating with visitation starting at 2 p.m. A graveside service will follow at Garden Valley Cemetery. 

James Henry Stoutjesdyk was born Nov. 22, 1930, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He had been a resident of Lake ‘O The Pines since 1985, formerly living in Plano. In his younger years, he helped decorate the Macy’s Christmas tree each year and dressed up as the Planter’s Peanut Man. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard for 25 years and worked as a boiler inspector for Factory Mutual for 26 years. He married Nita Lee Roberts Stoutjesdyk on March 5, 1955 in Fort Worth, Texas. They had an incredible marriage of 68 years. Together, they enjoyed bowling in a league and swimming. He taught all of his grandkids to swim and enjoyed smoking a pipe. He also loved crossword puzzles, sports, carpentry, and woodworking. 

James passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on November 19, 2023. He waited six months and one day to be reunited with the love of his life, Nita Stoutjesdyk. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Stoutjesdyk; daughter, Belinda Green; grandson, Jonathan McCartan; brothers, Jack Stoutjesdyk, Barbara Stoutjesdyk, and Virginia Ashman. 

Survivors include his three daughters, Jayd Kosowski and husband, Glen of New York, Sandra Stoutjesdyk of Queen City, and Nancy McCartan and husband, John of Garden Valley; son-in-law, Mark Green; grandchildren, Mikey Kosowski, Dina McGuinness, Gary Green, Anthony Green, Amanda Ashmore, Hannah Brown, Russell Bramblett, Stephanie McCartan, Jimmy McCartan, and Tiffine Cooper; 15 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. 

Pallbearers will be Mikey Kosowski, Don Green, Jesse Irwin, Tiffine Cooper, Gary Green, and Anthony Green. Russell Bramblett and Jimmy McCartan will serve as honorary pallbearers.
