Lady Bulldogs go 3-1 in tourney play; Boys now 6-1

Nov. 30 through Dec. 2 the Lady Bulldogs took part in the White Oak Basketball Tournament.

In game one, Jefferson met up with Paul Pewitt; a team they had beaten just two days prior 72-13.

The outcome was nearly the same as the Lady Bulldogs crushed Pewitt 70-13.

Taurria Hood and Destiny Kelly each poured in 15 points apiece, Jordyn Davidson added a double-double with 12 points and 11 steals, Kristen Thomas added nine points, Keyasia Black eight and Keinysa Wallace seven.

In game two, the Lady Bulldogs trounced the East Texas Homeschool team 70-27. A 38-16 led at the half was a good start for Jefferson, and a 32-11 run in the second half sealed the win.

Taurria Hood scorched the nets for 25 points and had nine rebounds, Kristen Thomas had 14 points with 11 boards to wrap up a double-double, Keinysa Wallace added 10 points and Destiny Kelly eight.

In game three, they scored 70 points for the third consecutive game as they caged the Lady Tigers of Linden-Kildare 70-28.

A 41-21 lead at intermission spelled doom for L-K. If not that, it was the 29-7 run in the second half that did it.

Kristen Thomas banked in 18 points, Taurria Hood added 15, Jordyn Davidson had 10 points with nine assists and seven steals, Amirie Prior had nine points and six boards and Destiny Kelly had seven points.

In game four, Jefferson lost to Hawkins for the second time this season; this time 59-46.

Keinysa Wallace posted 13 points, Kristen Thomas had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds, Taurria Hood recorded 10 points and Keyasia Black seven points.

Beckville 83-23

On Dec. 5, Jefferson’s varsity girls’ basketball team sank Beckville 83-23. The Lady Bulldogs took the no-mercy approach as they wrapped up the first quarter with a 24-7 lead and had a commanding 52-13 lead at intermission.

Even in somewhat cruise control theys went on a 31-10 run in the second to cap off a big win.

Kristen Thomas posted 28 points with six boards, Taurria Hood recorded a double-double with 27 points and 11 rebounds, Jordyn Davidson had 10 points with six assists, Keyasia Black added six points with seven steals, Keinysa Wallace had six points and Destiny Kelly had five points.

Boys

Jefferson’s varsity boys’ squad has had an impressive run to open the season. The Bulldogs reeled off wins against Gladewater, Pleasant Grove and Liberty-Eylau.

On Nov. 30 through Dec. 2, the Bulldogs competed in the White Oak Basketball Tournament. Jefferson won its first three games as they topped Kilgore 55-26, beat Cumberland Academy 64-32 and roughed up Mineola 54-29.

The Bulldogs’ first loss of the season was a 62-46 skid against Hooks.
