Lady Bulldogs earn tourney runner-up

Jefferson 57 , Shelbyville 39

On Dec. 7, the Lady Bulldogs took part in the Gary Basketball Tournament and met up with Shelbyville in the first game.

The contest was close in the first half as Jefferson had a slight 32-28 at halftime, but a solid 25-11 run by the Lady Bulldogs in the second half sealed the 57-39 win.

Taurria Hood poured in 16 points and nine boards, Kristen Thomas posted a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, Jordyn Davidson added nine points and Keyasia Black netted eight points with nine boards.

Jefferson 49 , Chireno 32

On Dec. 8, the Lady Bulldogs topped Chireno 49-32 in the Gary Basketball Tournament.

Jefferson won every quarter as they led 31-20 at the break. Kristen Thomas recorded another double-double as she netted 12 points with 10 rebounds, Jordyn Davidson added 12 points and Taurria Hood had 11 points. 

Jefferson 46 , Pollok Central 43

In the third game of the Gary Basketball tourney the Lady Bulldogs edged out Pollok Central 46-43.

Pollok Central had an 11-9 lead after the first quarter but the Lady Bulldogs came back to take a 24-23 lead at the half. A 22-20 run by the Lady Bulldogs gave Jefferson the edge.

Taurria Hood had 12 points with six boards and six assists, Kristen Thomas added to her season double-double haul as she racked up 11 points with 10 rebounds, Keyasia Black poured in eight points with nine rebounds and Jordyn Davidson had eight points.

Woden 43, Jefferson 34

The Lady Bulldogs played Woden in the championship contest of the Gary Basketball tourney.

Woden had a commanding 17-4 lead after quarter one and posted a 25-9 at halftime. A 25-18 run by Jefferson in the second half wasn’t enough for a successful comeback as Woden won the game 43-34.

Keyasia Black had 10 points, Taurria Hood had seven points, Kristen Thomas added six points with seven boards and Keinysa Wallace recorded five points with seven rebounds.
