Cheyenne Mobbs of Texarkana, one of the best actors the Opera House Theatre Players have run across, is playing the lead, George Bailey, in the theatre’s second production of the season, “It’s A Wonderful Life”. Mobbs also played the part in last December’s production and agreed to return for the Encore Presentation this year. The play is being directed by Jane Maddox, theatre board member from Austin.
Mobbs is an American film, TV, and theater actor. He was born in Longview, Texas in 1977 and graduated from Pine Tree High School in 1996. Cheyenne then went on to study acting at Lon Morris Junior College and Stephen F Austin theater departments. He lived in several owns throughout East Texas and Mississippi during high school and throughout college, but moved to Texarkana, Arkansas in 2001.
According to theatre president Marcia Thomas, “we are extremely happy to have Cheyenne work with us whenever he can. He is an excellent actor with good experience and both drama and musical theatre and we are so fortunate that he wants to work with us whenever he can. We hope to have him back from time to time in between his serious avocation, independent film work. He has credits listed on the IMDB website and helps promote a burgeoning industry in this east Texas area having appeared in a recent film by Hallsville native Micah Lyons who, himself, is very successful in his film career. We hope they’ll bring it into Jefferson sooner or later!”
Tickets for the radio-script play are still available mostly for the Friday, December 15 performance. The Saturday, December 16 performance is beginning to fill up and both performances will begin at 7 pm in the old, historic Union Baptist Church Building which was restored and is now used as an event building for the community. It was restored and is owned by the Collins Foundation. If possible, some tickets may be available at the door and doors will open for seating at 6:15 pm.
