Have a Merry Christmas

Christmas is a time of year which impacts everyone – in one way or another.

Many of us celebrate the season with gifts, seeing family, spreading cheer and general holiday fun. But, there are also many of us who dread this time of year.

The original lyrics to “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” written in 1944, were not the cheery theme we sing today.

Have yourself a merry little Christmas.

It may be your last.

Next year we may all be living in the past.

Have yourself a merry little Christmas.

Pop that champagne cork.

Next year we may all be living in New York.

No good times like the olden days,

Happy golden days of yore.

Faithful friends who were dear to us

Will be near to us no more.

But at least we all will be together

If the Lord allows.

From now on, we’ll have to muddle through somehow,

So have yourself a merry little Christmas now.

Now we don’t want to put a damper on your Christmas Spirit, but we do ask that you take a moment and be mindful of the feelings of others around you.

And keep that in mind throughout the coming year to make a better year.
