Bobby Joe Comer was born on February 3, 1935, to D.C. Comer and Lillie Wilkins Comer. He passed on to his heavenly reward on December 27, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Teresa Simmons, his sisters Imogene ‘Sissy’ Dickson, Jeanette Harris, and Betty Lou Carter. He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Jo Margaret Whitfield Comer; his son Randy Comer; his daughter Tina Calloway (Brian); sister Barbara Ann Stewart, brother Earl Wayne Comer (Betty Lou); grandchildren Jessica Comer, Matthew Calloway, and Courtney Calloway; great grandchildren Trinity and Amilya. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Bobby loved the piney woods of East Texas and spent his entire life in the East Texas area. From a young age Bobby loved hunting and fishing, and he had many happy memories of time spent outdoors with family and friends.
Bobby was a longtime member of the Trees Baptist Church in Trees, LA, where he and Jo Margaret faithfully attended. Bobby was part of a team that helped build the original church building there. Over the years Bobby and Jo Margaret also worked in many fundraising and charity events sponsored by their church.
Bobby was a very hard worker who took his job very seriously. Colossians 3:23-24. He spent most of his career with Calumet Refining Co., advancing through several different roles.
He was a dedicated husband and father who loved to spend time with his family. He was also a caring brother and uncle. Bobby enjoyed being a grandfather; he especially enjoyed his most recent role as a great-grandfather. Bobby was a very loyal friend, and he was blessed with many life-long friendships.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Trees Baptist Church in Trees, LA., officiated by Bro. John Parker. There will be a time of visitation from 12:00 PM until the time of service. Burial will follow at Gray Cemetery. Arrangements are under direction of Gorsulowsky Funeral Home, Vivian, La.
Pallbearers will be John Young, Matthew Calloway, Grant Fitzgerald, Jimmy Dempsey, Jimbo Terry, and Ethan Comer. Honorary pallbearers are Billy Foster, Wayne Hill, Carl Nutt, and Hugh Beene.
