Jefferson has some new coaches joining the staff as Athletic Director Ty Taylor introduced Kevin Reaves, Stan Kimble, Kenneth Simmons, Blayden Reaves, and Tra Carson during Tuesday night’s school board meeting.

“I’m excited about their contributions to the Jefferson athletic program,” said Taylor. “Students have already made noticeable gains in their athletic journies.”

Other new additions to JISD staff include JISD Chief of Police Jack Pearl, elementary Assistant Principal Terry Johnson, and high school Principal Joel Windham III. Pearl is a former Marion County Game Warden. JJHS Principal Tim Phy also introduced Heather Banks and Chase Banks, both of whom will be teaching science.

Continuing on student success, Lynn Phillips introduced senior students who will graduate this year with associate degrees from Panola College. They were I’Tasia Rainge, Max Marquez, Kylee McGregor, and Asher Phillips.

In other business, the district approved: an engagement letter/agreement with Knuckols, Duvall, Hallum, & Company to perform the district’s audit for the 23-24 school year; a resolution requesting Governor Abbot, the Comptroller, and TEA to act promptly to ensure access to dependable, affordable broadband for all students; a local teaching permit related to a principles of business, marketing, and finance course at the junior high school; a certification statement related to the use of IMA funds, intended to support the teaching of TEKS regarding JISD’s curriculum; and Lane Loyd/Strong 7 to complete the high school field house updates.
